Ausgrid News October 2012

3 Oct 2012

3rd October 2012

Dear Resident / Business Owner

Re: Electricity upgrade work on St Hubert's Island

As you are aware Ausgrid has been conducting work to improve the electricity network on St Hubert's Island. Due to the complexity and size of this project it has been broken down into 6 stages. Stage 1 of this project involved the installation of new upgraded underground electricity cables and an upgraded Kiosk Substation, in the vicinity of Helmsman Blvd, Barracouta Ave, Long Arm Pde & Mainsail Ave.

Ausgrid staff will commence the commissioning of these new underground electricity cables for stage 1 of this project towards the end of October 2012. Stage 1 works are scheduled to be completed approximately by the end of November 2012. However, the exact start & finish date of the project may vary as it depends on the weather and site conditions that may be encountered.

Stage 1 Project details for completion:

Ausgrid will be working in Helmsman Blvd, Barracouta Ave, Long Arm Pde & Mainsail Ave, St Hubert's Island. The completion of this project will involve the following works:

Building of new pillar boxes (green boxes) within the street & commissioning of the new underground electricity cables

Minor excavation for cable terminating (excavations will be backfilled daily).

Please note this work will involve no further excavation works in roadways or customers concrete driveways

Construction hours: Works will occur between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday.

IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT OUR WORK SAFELY, THERE WILL BE A NUMBER OF INTERRUPTIONS TO YOUR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY DURING THE COMMISSIONING OF THIS PROJECT.

THESE INTERRUPTIONS WILL NOT OCCUR ON CONSECTIVE DAYS AND WE WILL TRY TO MINIMISE ANY INTERRUPTIONS ON SATURDAYS. YOU WILL BE GIVEN AT LEAST 2 DAYS PRIOR NOTICE TO THIS OCCURING.

Ausgrid will work to minimise any disruption to you, and traffic and pedestrian management controllers will be implemented for the duration of the project to maximise safety to the local community and our staff.

Any affected areas and ground disturbance that has occurred as part of this project will be fully restored to your local authority's specifications at the completion of this project. This includes all landscaping & turfing works.

We are required to operate heavy machinery so there will be noise and dust generated by our activities, however we will endeavour to minimise impacts where possible. If at any stage during the project we are required to block access to your driveway we shall contact you directly to discuss arrangements to suit all parties involved prior to any activities being undertaken.

We are committed to keeping the community informed about this project. If you would like more information, please contact
