2018Annual St Huberts Island Paddle Regatta

Sunday 9th December 2018 at 9 am at Long Arm Reserve.

“Fine yourself down” in preparation for your attendance at the Island’s Christmas Celebration 6 days later.

It’s Christmas... wear your Xmas hat! Kids also welcome.

Starting at 9 am at Long Arm Reserve we’ll paddle by kayak, canoe, paddle board, stand-up board or raft, into each of our six canals, finishing sometime after 11am back at Long Arm Reserve for a hearty welcome by your family and friends.

On the way expect:

  • A watermelon stop
  • Sausage sizzle in Marina Cove
  • Champers and cheeses at Long Arm

This is not a race, just an enjoyable morning of paddling with new and old friends, experienced or inexperienced. All ages can take part. Those with a spare craft please let me know and I’ll put you in touch with someone who’d like to join us but doesn’t have one - they should make contact with me as well.

This adventure is dependent on the weather and you’ll be contacted by email/Facebook if we have to call it off.
I’d also like to hear from anyone in the canals who would like to be a welcoming host. Would you please register your interest with JoAnn Edwards at 4343 1319 or email joanndeal@tpg.com.au
with your contact details and whether you are paddling singly or with a friend.

REPORT

Sunday December 9 saw 15 Island residents meet at Long Arm Parade for our annual Christmas paddle. Christmas hats in place we went around in a clockwise direction stopping first at the Goard’s residence to be greeted with fresh watermelon. We continued our paddle to Helana’s house for some more nibbles, then around the oyster leases to our Island President’s house for an Edwards sausage sandwich. Back into the kayaks, we paddled the last leg back to the park at Long Arm Parade for champagne, cheese and biscuits!

Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to doing it all again next December!

NOTE: The Webmaster is sure that someone must have taken photos on the day, but was not able to track any down. If you do have some photos, or know of someone, let me know at -
